Make Sure your
Children are Driven by Safety
Parents can play an important
role in reducing car crashes among teenagers, the age group most
likely to be involved in vehicle accidents. To reduce injury and
death to teen drivers, the American Academy of Pediatrics offers
this advice to parents:
 | Set "house rules" about
driving even before a teen gets a driver’s license.
|
 | Establish nighttime driving
curfews. |
 | Set a limit on the number and
age of passengers in cars driven by teens. |
 | Require adult supervision of
beginning drivers.
Insist on seat belt use by all occupants of a vehicle.
|
 | Parents and children should
also carefully read and sign a Driving Contract for Youthful
